What's new in AVL version 1.22.11.303 (Release - November, 2022)
•The Connect Tab will now display a message if the AVL Administrator version is newer than the service version, and vice versa. AVL Admin license updates must be coordinated with AVL service updates.
oAn older version of the AVL Administrator has no way of displaying updated messages, since it’s not yet updated, so the only way to ensure no data corruption occurs is to deny log in. The only means of showing a failed connection in the old version is by the “Access Denied” message.
•The Users Tab now allows administrators to make more granular selections for individual users, allowing control over tab permissions in the AVL Administrator and Group viewing permissions. Newly added users will automatically have view only access to all tabs in the AVL Administrator, but may have those permissions changed upon creation, or the user may be edited later.
•Alarms Tab Updates:
oA bug was fixed that previously allowed boundary alarms drawn using the Draw Fence option to appear to be added even though they never got saved as complete areas. Now there is a check that prevents fences drawn with over 100 vertexes from being saved as incomplete areas, and a notification window will pop up indicating that too many vertexes are being used.
oIf an existing boundary is considered too complex when using the Pick Boundary option, EX., a Township boundary that runs along a winding river or other waterway, it may not be usable for the query. If this is the case, a pop up will appear indicating that the selected boundary is too complex to be used.
oIf there is a problem in adding, changing, or deleting an Alarm, a pop up window will appear indicating that there was an error with the request.
oA maximum speed option has been added to Speed Alarms. This is useful in eliminating errant GPS reports from triggering false alarms.
•The AVL Service may now be updated remotely from the Software Updates section on the Diagnostics Tab, meaning that the Administrator does not need to be run on the same machine as the service in order to update the service.
oThe logged in user will be required to have the ability to update the service. See Tab Permissions for more information.
•Several column widths in the List of Units Tab and Users Tab were expanded so more content could be viewed without having to manually expand columns each session.
•History Tab Updates:
oManually entered Unit Selections are no longer case sensitive.
oThe default Report Save As location will be changed on new AVL Administrator installs and reinstalls to C:\ThinkGIS\WTH.AVL.Administrator\Reports.
oAll report types on the main History Tab now have their file name created based on query dates. Previously it would always default to the same report name, EX. ActivityReport.pdf.
oReport parameters included in History Report PDFs have been expanded to include:
▪Report location every ___ min
▪Report stops lasting longer than ___ min
▪Report 'No Signal' for periods of no GPS reports longer than ___ min
▪Report nearest intersection for each record
o“Include alarms in report” option has had a new parameter added to the Activity Reports, allowing the user to decide which Alarms will be included in the result.
oAlarm Reports now indicate if no results are found, rather than simply providing a blank report.
•AVL can now natively receive GPS via HTTP. These types of requests must be received on a port that is not already in use by the service. If the site is hosted by WTH, a request must be submitted to allow incoming packets through the firewall. Applications like Traccar transmit data this way.
