Identify Feature

The Identify Feature tool is located under the Lookup Menu and provides users with a means of answering the question "what is that?".

1)Go to Lookup > Identify Feature

2)Point the cursor at anything in the display (ie. lines, points, text, etc.)

3)Click the left mouse button

4)Feature Form will appear

It is possible to identify Features without Tool Selection:

1) Place cursor over feature and single click.  Feature details will appear in the information Window.

2) Double clicking on a feature will result in the Feature Form coming up.

Notes:

Holding the mouse over an object in the map display will identify the feature information in the lower left corner of the main window.

If multiple Features are drawn on the map very near to where clicked, then Think GIS will display a pick list to select from.

Some layers may be configured as not selectable in which case users can't select them from the map display. For more on this see Layer Settings.

See Database Errors for a description of error messages like "-DB Err 8-".
