By default, the Veh ID is used to label each vehicle on the map. The Label column is used to specify a temporary map label for this vehicle without loosing track of the vehicle's permanent ID. The Label column was designed to allow a dispatcher to dynamically change the label of a vehicle at shift change when a different officer (or call sign) is assigned to the vehicle. When the Label value is blank, the map label reverts back to the Veh ID value. Labels may contain up to 37 characters.
It is advised to only allow admin users full access to the List of Units. All others should be restricted to either changing the label, color, and icon or no access. Find more on the edit User's tabs. An enhanced AVL interface will eliminate any need for manual adjustment.
