Split Feature

Use this tool, located on Tools Menu > Show Map Editing Tools > Advanced Tools > Cleanup and Conversion Tools, to break a polyline into two polyline entities and assign each entity to its own feature. This is accomplished by duplicating the parent feature and assigning the separated portion of polyline to the new entity.

To Split A Feature/Polyline:

1) Select this tool from the Cleanup and Conversion Tool menu.

2) Using the cursor select a polyline on the screen.

3) Select a point along the polyline to break it.

Note:

If layer is an address range layer then low and high house numbers are automatically adjusted for each feature to approximate the break point location.

See the topology rules in layer settings to setup a layer to automatically split feature whenever a line or symbol are connected to an existing polyline.

Tool use instructions will also appear in the footer of the Think GIS window in the Instructional Bar.
