To change the name of a layer

1) Open the Layer Settings window.

2) Click once on the layer name.

3) In the details area to the right (see sample below), type the desired layer name and then press Enter or click Apply.

 

          

 

Notes:

Be descriptive with layer names. It's ok to use spaces.

A layer name must be different than all other layers in the same map.

A plus symbol at the beginning of a row indicates a layer category. Click the plus symbol to expand the category displaying the individual layers.

Like most other layer settings, the layer name is stored in the map file (.tgm or .tma). Therefore if an individual layer file is part of more than one map it may have different names in each map.

Layer Names can be up to 31 characters long.
