Find Address

 

 

 

Note: The new Search Box located on the main Think GIS toolbar is the easiest place for locating addresses and therefore this old Find Address dialog is somewhat obsolete.

 

To find an address on the map:

1) Click the  button or select Find Address from the Lookup menu and the Find Address window will be displayed (see below).

2) Enter the House number, Direction, and Street name of an address and press Enter.

3) If a unique match is found or if the location can be approximated then Think GIS zooms to that location on the map and highlights the address.

If a unique match cannot be found, then a list of alternatives to pick from is displayed.

AutoLookupMode: If using any type of automatic address lookup such as a 911 interface then use this workstation setting to control how Think GIS reacts when it can't locate an address.

Auto Area Search Results: Use this workstation setting to automatically display additional information about an address every time a lookup is executed.

For detailed assistance in determining exactly why an address could not be found hold down the Shift key while looking up an address and trouble shooting information will be written to the session.log file. Contact customer support for assistance in interpreting this log.
