Select New from the File menu to create a new map.
A new map can be used for drawing a new map from scratch or creating a new application of existing layers. See the File Management topic for more about what is stored in a map file. Based on the User Level setup for a workstation, this menu item may not be visible.
To create a new map:
1) Select New from the File menu.
2) Enter a name for the new map. All characters must be consistent with the Windows file naming convention. Spaces are ok.
3) Confirm the full path name for the location of the new map file. A new folder will be automatically created if the specified folder does not already exist. See TGMvsTMA
4) Select a map projection from the list. If importing existing layer files into this new map then user should select the projection here that matches that of the existing layer files.
