Many GPS devices can be configured with a unique hardware ID, or modem ID, that gets stamped on all GPS reports that it sends to the AVL Server. By doing this, the server knows where each GPS location comes from. When modem ID's are used, enter the Modem ID for each of the listed units. The use of modem ID's is mandatory on GPS devices with dynamic IP addresses and on all RF based GPS equipment because they are the only way to determine the source of each incoming GPS report. See List of Units>Notes for more information.
