The Input tab gives an administrator access to parameters that define how the AVL Service receives GPS input from the vehicles. GPS input can be received from any combination of the sources listed below. (Visibility of this tab and/or the options available depend on the permissions set on the Users Tab.)
Notes:
•Users must have View permission to see the Input tab, but Admin permission to use the tools.
•For more about the data formats, setup, and troubleshooting of GPS devices.
•WTH can customize the AVL Service to read GPS input from just about any third party software or communication stream if documentation can be provided describing the interface. This is usually not required since most GPS devices use industry standard protocols such as TAIP.
