This tool, located on Tools Menu > Show Map Editing Tools > Advanced Tools > Reporting, found on the Advanced Tools - Reporting menu creates a chloropleth style layer enumerating the count of features found in each area of a certain layer. For example, if using an address point layer and a zip code boundary layer, then use this tool to create a third layer reporting the number of addresses in each zip code. Furthermore, the resulting layer color codes the zip code areas according to the number of addresses in each. Use the fill color classification settings for this in the Layer Settings screen to alter the appearance of this resulting layer.
