If the layer selected is currently locked for editing, then the Add button can be used for appending new Feature records to the currently selected layer. Newly added Features will automatically insert themselves into the correct place in the list based on the layer's sort rules.
A dot will be displayed in the Feature list next to any new Feature that does not yet have any Entities representing it on the map.
New Features may also be added to a layer from the edit tool bar.
