Hide unresponsive units...

This setting specifies the number of minutes that the AVL Service will wait before removing an unresponsive unit from the map. An unresponsive unit is one that is no longer transmitting a valid GPS location. The server removes the unit by setting its location to 0,0. Set this setting to 0 for units to always remain on the map at their last known location.

This server setting is often used in tandem with a client side Think GIS setting called "grayout period". For example, at 1:00 a vehicle stops reporting its location (car was shut off, GPS equipment failed, etc.). The Think GIS grayout period is set to 5 min so at 1:05 the vehicle turns gray on the map indicating that its location is uncertain. On the server, this "Hide Unresponsive Units" period is set to 30min. So at 1:30 the vehicle completely disappears from the map. At 3:00 the vehicle is turned back on. It immediately reappears on the map at its current location.
