To free up hard drive space, the AVL Server will automatically compress any daily history files older than this number of days. The data will be automatically uncompressed as needed whenever a historic query is performed. History queries are slower however when the data needs to be uncompressed so we recommend specifying the maximum number of days here that the computer's hard drive space will allow. Leaving the value at 0 means that no files will be compressed. The number of days may either be entered manually, or selected from the drop-down menu.
