Use this tool, located on Tools Menu > Show Map Editing Tools > Advanced Tools > Reporting, to report any areas that overlap on the same layer.

To Report Overlapping Areas:

1) Select this tool from the Report menu.

2) Select a layer to check.

3) Draw a box around the portion of the map to check.

4) Any overlapping areas are reported on a new layer added to the map.
