Delete Duplicate Entities

 

 

 

Use this tool, located on Tools Menu > Show Map Editing Tools > Advanced Tools > Cleanup and Conversion Tools, to delete any entities that are identical with another entity on the same layer.

 

To delete duplicate entities

1) Select this menu item from the  menu.

2) Select the layer containing the redundant entities.

3) Specify which type(s) of entities to check for.

4) Draw a window around the portion of the map to search. To work with the entire layer draw a window around the entire map.

 

Notes

With this tool, entities are considered redundant even if they belong to different features.

Both area and polyline entities are not considered redundant if their paths travel in different directions. See exception below.

Short polylines consisting of a single line segment ARE considered redundant with other short polylines even if their starting and ending points are reversed.

Both label and symbol entities are considered redundant whenever their x,y coordinates are the same regardless differences in rotation angle, text height, or justification.
