Use the circle button to draw a filled in circle. After selecting this tool use the left mouse button to pick the two opposite corners of a rectangle on the canvas that defines the circle. While the symbol editor shows all line work as black and fill as red, these objects will be drawn on the map using the line color and fill color selected for the layer that the symbol is used on.
